VIVO IPL 2016, MI (109-2) vs RCB: Rohit, Rayudu keep MI scoreboard ticking at a slow rate





MI innings:

Rohit Sharma and Ambati Rayudu had a long stay at the crease and kept the scoreboard ticking at a slow rate.

The Mumbai Indians lost their opener Parthiv Patel early after Kane Richardson took a wicket off his first delivery in the VIVO IPL. AB de Villiers who never really puts down catches was the man to take Patel's catch as well.

Rohit Sharma looked a bit edgy as the innings started but then settled in once he powered a six off Varun Aaron.

Ambati Rayudu continued his good form and partnered well with his skipper.  

RCB innings:

Sarfaraz Khan (37) and Travis Head (28) played important knocks that brought back thee RCB into the game at the end of the innings.



Krunal Pandya took the wickets of the two most dangerous batsmen in the world in the very same over to pull his side back into the game.

Shane Watson was the next to take the long walk back after he was caught out by keep Parthiv Patel off a Bumrah delivery.

Virat Kohli was dismissed when Tim Southee took the catch at long off and AB was a vicitim of Parthiv Patel's stumping

The batting pair of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers took charge of the innings and showed why they are considered to be the world's best, RCB were in a comfortable position with regular boundaries and sixes coming at this point in the innings.

Tim Southee and Mitchell McClenaghan had started the innings well with a spirited first few overs however after an initial struggle and a knock on K Rahul's helmet from a McClenaghan bouncer the RCB openers managed to settle in.

KL Rahul had started to target McClenaghan and smacked the speedster for two sixes and a four only to be dismissed on the very next ball after Harbhajan Singh took the catch at slip.

It was the Mumbai Indians who the toss and elected to field first against the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
